Siglufjörður -Skagafjörður: 9+ hours

We start off by going to Hjalteyri, Dalvík, Ólafsfjörður and go to the Herring museum in Siglufjörður. In Skagafjörður we stop at Hólar and see an exhibition of the past bishops of Hólar along with Hólar Cathedral, Audun's house and the old traditional farmhouse. From there we drive through the village of Hofsós. You can go swimming in Hofsós and enjoy the view over the bay and explore the balsamic columns all around the pool. We stop at Glaumbær, the farm and museum where you can see how the old Icelandic farms were a complex of small separated buildings with thick walls of turf and grass roofs. Our next stop is at the church Víðimýrarkirkja which is a typical farmers' church from around the year 1000. It has been protected since 1936 and is now owned by The National Museum of Iceland.
